Sicklebill Safaris is a small family run company based in North Queensland, Australia. We have been operating in the Pacific region for the past twelve years. We have led tours to a number of destinations throughout the region and have specialised in small private groups. Although we now offer scheduled tours to some of our most sought after destinations, group size is still kept small as we feel this maximises the chances of everyone on the tour seeing all the birds well.
Our tour size rarely goes above 6 participants and then only after consultation with the people involved.
Sicklebill Safaris was originally founded with the aim of taking small groups of visitors to New Guinea to experience the wonderful country and its astonishingly varied culture, and to see as many of the 400 endemic species as possible. We support locally owned, minimum impact, sustainable tourism ventures using local guides as much as possible and help to provide an alternative income source to logging. We have long promoted the participation of local people in all aspects of eco-tourism. In Papua New Guinea we have worked closely with the land-owners, encouraging the setting up of land-owner lodges in prime birding sites and providing job training for local guides.
In recent years we have expanded and been joined by other excellent guides. We currently offer itineraries for a variety of locations throughout the Pacific region, from Japan and Taiwan in the north to New Zealand in the south. We visit many of the small Pacific Islands and countries of the Pacific rim, as well as offering a wide range of tours throughout Australia. Why not join us for the bird trip of a lifetime?
